About Us

My photo
We met over 8 years ago at church as Shaun was walking in and I was walking out. The few words exchanged sparked an interst that kept Shaun coming back. When we FINALLY began dating 4 years later we soon knew there was something special here. Our first year quickly flew by and we both decided we never wanted to spend another year with anyone else or without each other. We married in the place where it all began on January 1, 2011 (1/1/11) and gave birth to our beautiful daughter Ava Marie on September 22, 2011 our next little one, Clara Rose came 16 months later on February 11, 2013. This blog began with our preparation with our wedding and has entered into recording the days and events of our newlywed life and new motherhood.

Miss Clara Rose-9months!

I don't really have time to post a longer one right now, but want to share something of the girls with you and Miss Clara turned 9mo a little over a week ago, so I thought I'd share some of her cuteness.

 (She loves her Nana)
She's a doll.  SUPER clingy to Mommy, though.  This is probably why when I left to run an errand yesterday she took her FIRST STEPS with Nana and Daddy!

She's waving and clapping and crawling and reaching and standing on her own and "Da-da-da-da-da" ing all day long.  I just love her.  She is such sweetness!

Ok... Ava's up from her nap singing "baa baa black sheep have you any wool...".  Gotta go!  Hope all is very well in your worlds my friends!

Pissed but "Thankful"

Today was the day of our open house.  We had worked so hard to get everything as ready as we could and after hearing 3 "people/couples" came we weren't "thrilled", but granted it was a drizzly, gray autumn day we weren't unhappy with the results either.  We'll see how it goes.  This is the best I could get the house to look:

I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the living room all nicen-ed up with a pretty yellow table runner, candles, pillows and couches all neatened up, toys and rug put away... by the time I got to it books were everywhere, blankets, toys, cutie babies and a wonderful husband.

Kitchen was cleaned up (with no sweatshirts on the back of the chairs for the open house) and a great candle burning autumn smells...

Entry way as best as we could get it without everyone's shoes littering the floor...

Our bedroom (I love love that quilt from Shaun's Mom.  ALL of our quilts were made by her.  The picture of Our Lady was a gift from my mom and hung over our wedding table at our reception)

The "super tub" (imagine being a kid and getting baths in THAT!?

Ava's room (so much I wish I could've finished, but I pulled the poor child out of her bed mid nap to put her in the car and finish getting the bed ready before our realtor showed up)

Clara's room...

Looking into Ava's room from Clara's (neighbor sisters)

A cozy pellet stove and fully stocked cellar.  Thank God for recent "overtime"!

We had taken a nice Autumn drive and went out to eat to kill time while this was going on and on the way home both Shaun and I mentioned what a long day it had been and how much we were looking forward to a quiet rest of the evening at home.

Nearly home we were hit by a car that didn't think they needed to stop at a stop sign.  My only thought was to protect Ava from the brunt of the crash and at least I was able to get the car to hit my door instead.

The driver got out of his car and mumbled "Awww... I just fixed my bumper" with absolutely no regard for the passengers in the vehicle he just hit.  I said, "Maybe you need to be less concerned with your bumper and more concerned with the fact that you could've just KILLED four people" to which he replied dismissively "Calm down, I'm mad about it too."  I just said, "Well, I hope you're mad at YOU!" (he wasn't)  He barely even looked up at us.  I mentioned that I had two babies in the backseat (Ava was sobbing loudly) and he said "Your children aren't my problem, they're your problem, this is an insurance issue"  I couldn't believe his utter disregard and found myself getting angrier.  I said firmly "This is about to become YOUR problem!"  He told Shaun to get his wife "under control" (I was calmly seated in the car holding Ava) to which he responded, "Get my wife under control?  She's not out of control.  I think you just need to shut up now" to which the man genuinely shocked, said "What?"  Shaun said, "You just said you don't care about my kids?  Nice!"  We tried our best to ignore him and not get into further conflict before the police showed up.

He evidently told the police that he DID stop at the stop sign, but then kept going... and hit us.  Bright.  Very bright this gentleman was.  For the record, he did not stop.

I was taken to the hospital to double check my head and make sure the baby was fine (which he/she is) and monitor my blood pressure which was "high" most likely due to my aggravation.

I'm pissed... but "thankful".  Obviously thankful that everyone is ok and all of us walked away fine.  I kept looking at them tonight thinking about how in a moment everything could change... all our blessings could be robbed from us by one selfish act.  Thank God they weren't this time.  Making me every more grateful.

I'll pray for this man through gritted teeth as he obviously needs it.  Please say one with me?

...and another in thanksgiving???

Oh... and check out that Honda "body integrity"!!!  (at least his car was environmentally friendly)

Open House tomorrow!

Well friends, I'm taking a super fast break from the buzz around here to quickly ask you to pray for our impromptu "Open House" on our home tomorrow from 1-3pm.  We received a phone call a few days ago after silence on our home for a while now, that someone would like to view it on Sunday and would we be willing to have an open house as well.  I looked around at what is definitely a house with babies (one who never seems to sleep) and a pregnant mommy, surveyed the damage and said, "Well... it's on the market, so sure!"  We're readying ourselves the best we can, but could use plenty of prayers for the "right" people to be sent to our home and able to give a good offer.  Thank you everyone!  Here's our lovely abode:
