About Us

My photo
We met over 8 years ago at church as Shaun was walking in and I was walking out. The few words exchanged sparked an interst that kept Shaun coming back. When we FINALLY began dating 4 years later we soon knew there was something special here. Our first year quickly flew by and we both decided we never wanted to spend another year with anyone else or without each other. We married in the place where it all began on January 1, 2011 (1/1/11) and gave birth to our beautiful daughter Ava Marie on September 22, 2011 our next little one, Clara Rose came 16 months later on February 11, 2013. This blog began with our preparation with our wedding and has entered into recording the days and events of our newlywed life and new motherhood.

7 Quick Takes-Ava-isms

1. One of my new favorite things is this:
I've been buying two 1/2 gallons each time I go to BJ's and found this today... cheaper!  Yay!  Ava's a huge milk drinker, so I think we go through around 2 gallons a week just for HER.  Crazy, thirsty little 22mo old!  No complaints, though.  If she's as uncoordinated as me, she'll need strong bones.

2.  So happy that a recent "trial" to our family seems to be passing.  I can't go into details, but it involved bullying, stupidity and court.  We won ...sort of.  Such a waste of time and money, though, but thank God for the storm to be passing.... I hope.

3.  Loved taking the girls to Mass yesterday for the Holy Day.  We went to the Noon (and I wished we had a Noon everyday around here cause we can't seem to get going earlier and get to the 9am as they're usually waking up around 8:30am and the word "hurry" doesn't compute in this house).  So great to see Ava so excited to go see Jesus and Mary, though.  She entered in to the church during the beginning of the first reading with arms bundled with stuffed bunnies and blankets and loudly proclaiming "Jesus!" "Mary!" in such a way that made it quite impossible to "sneak" into our pew.  Oh well... I feel our Lord was smiling from ear to ear at her fervor.

4.  Speaking of the Holy day, Jamie Jo wrote a beautiful post on this awesome Feast of Our Lady... read it HERE.  Short sweet and to the point.

5. Speaking of blankets an bunnies, here's a little "Ava-ese".  Her once white bunny given by a fellow parishioner at her birth isn't "Bunny" to her... it's just...

"Nee"

See how she rubs the tags on it?

Her favorite blanket given by her Auntie Dana (and quite unable to duplicate... can't find another "Nee" either) is super soft pink and brown stripey "LUXE" brand ...and isn't called "Blanket" to her... it's just...

 "ainket"

Like the way she hangs in the stroller?

Her desperate call for them come any naptime or bedtime or car ride?

"Nee-d-ainket!!! Nee-d-ainket!!!"

The "d" is her version of "anD"

Bu"NEE" an"D" Bl"ANKET"

get it?

Nee D anket.

6.  Her other "beloveds" are...

 "Chey Chey Nee"

which is the bunny made/given to her at her 1st baby shower by Cheyanne.  It's a pink "build a bear" bunny and had a button with her big sister's voice on it that said "I love you Ava" ...until she played it so much that it wore out.

and...

Jesus.

Ava carries around a little statue of Jesus every where.  love love loves him.  For her birthday we plan on getting her a little statue of Mary because lately I find her sleeping with the big one that's usually on the dresser in her room.  She's always asking "Hooold her?  HOLD her!?"  We have to get her a smaller one.

She has a bunch of other friends and knows and loves them all, but these are the closest to her.

7.  One more Ava-ism?  Lately she's taken to calling "Shaun?!"  "Shaaaauuuun!!!" from her room or around the house.  She'll look out into the backyard and call at the top of her lungs "Shaun!!???" to the laughter of our neighbors.

(waiting  with ainket for the rain to stop so she can take a walk with Shaun er ...Daddy)

He reminds her, "Hey, it's DADDY to you", but always the smirk and the "Shaun" afterwards... or she calls him "Honey".  Wonder where she's picking all this up from?  She's such a funny kid.  Gotta love her and all her little "Ava-isms"

    1. Ugh... I wrote a post about it, but Shaun said it was better not to post it. He was right, I suppose, but I could've used the prayers. I'm glad it's passing. Hope all is well with you Catholic Mama :)

    1. I'm sure that's going to be us. When you think we go through 3 Gallons a week with just Ava, Shaun & I! Crazy... we need a cow.

      She IS a honey.

I wish we lived closer too. If "soul sisters" are a thing, you definitely are it!

#4... actually I think you're #1, but I thought you did such a great job on your post, why do another?

It was so so stupid... *sigh* getting better, though.

    1. I know right?! I just checked on her for her nap and she was fast asleep with Jesus, Needanket, Chey Chey Nee and a big peaceful smile on her face. Love that kid!

YOU are a wonderful Mommy too. Enjoy your weekend. Wish we could spend one together sometime. Until then, cherish that beautiful view from your front porch. So wish we had that.
